Is Pacific Pearls now Avani Jewelry?

Yes! Originally founded in 2011, under the name "Pacific Pearls," we started with a focus on handcrafted pearl jewelry. In 2023, we relaunched as "Avani Jewelry" and have expanded our collection to include natural precious gemstones that are completely untreated to create truly unique pieces in their raw and natural form.

How do I clean my pearls?

Cleaning pearls requires gentle care to preserve their natural luster and avoid damage. Here are some steps to clean your pearls properly:

  • Use a soft cloth: Start by wiping the pearls with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove any surface dirt or oils. Avoid using rough materials that could scratch the pearls, such as paper towels or abrasive fabrics.
  • Clean with damp cloth or mild solution: If the pearls need more thorough cleaning, dampen the cloth slightly with lukewarm water and a mild, gentle soap (like baby shampoo). Gently wipe the pearls, taking care not to soak the string or get excess water in between the pearls.
  • Rinse and pat dry: After cleaning, rinse the pearls with a clean damp cloth to remove any soap residue. Pat them dry with a soft, dry cloth immediately. Avoid leaving the pearls damp, as excessive moisture can damage the pearl's surface or weaken the string.
  • Avoid harsh cleaners: Never use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or jewelry cleaners that contain ammonia, vinegar, or alcohol. These substances can harm the pearls and their delicate nacre.
  • Avoid steam + ultrasonic cleaners: Avoid using ultrasonic jewelry cleaners or steam cleaners for pearls, as the vibrations or high heat can damage the pearls.
  • Store properly: Proper storage is essential to maintaining the pearls' beauty. Keep them away from other jewelry that might scratch them, and store them in a soft pouch or a separate compartment of a jewelry box.
  • Avoid contact with lotions and perfumes: Apply perfumes, lotions, and cosmetics before wearing your pearls. These substances can dull the pearls' luster and potentially damage their surface.
  • Wear with care: Be cautious when wearing pearls, especially in situations where they might be exposed to rough surfaces or impact. Pearls are relatively delicate, and bumps or scratches can harm them.

What is Mother of Pearl?

Mother of pearl, also known as nacre, is an iridescent, lustrous substance that forms inside the shells of certain mollusks, particularly oysters and abalone. It is composed of calcium carbonate in the form of aragonite crystals, as well as a small amount of conchiolin, a protein substance. The combination of these materials gives mother of pearl its unique shimmering appearance.

The formation of mother of pearl occurs as a natural defense mechanism by the mollusk to protect its soft body from irritants, such as sand that may enter its shell. When an irritant gets inside the shell, the mollusk secretes layers of nacre around it to create a smooth, hard, and protective coating. Over time, multiple layers of nacre build up, resulting in the formation of a pearl if the irritant is a grain of sand or other foreign object. However, if the irritant is not spherical in shape, it can still create a beautiful and iridescent material known as mother of pearl.

Mother of pearl has been used for various purposes for centuries due to its stunning appearance. We use mother of pearl in some of our jewelry, home décor and handbags.

  • Orders $75.00 and up: Free

EXPRESS:
Transit time is 1-2 business days. Rates are as follows:

  • Orders up to $299.00: $29.45 USD
  • Orders $300.00 and up: $49.30 USD

INTERNATIONAL: We offer Standard International shipping for international orders. Please see below for more information on this option:

Transit time is 7-14 business days. Rates are as follows:

  • Orders up to $149.99: $22.00 USD
  • Orders $150.00 and up: Free

Please note that any applicable customs fees or taxes are the responsibility of the customer and are not included in the shipping cost.

How do I track my order?

Once your order has been shipped, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with a tracking number. You can use this tracking number to track the progress of your package on our website or through the carrier's website.

Keep in mind that it can take up to 48 hours before the tracking updates are available. Can't track your package after 48h? Please send an email to hello@avani.jewelry and we will contact the shipping company.

Can I still change my order?

If you need to make changes or cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate your request, but please note that orders that have already been shipped cannot be cancelled or changed.

How do I return my order?

If you would like to return or exchange your order, please click on the Return/Exchange Request link in the Help & Info section at the bottom of any page.

Orders can be returned within 30 days.

Items must be returned in their original packaging and in unused condition.

Please note: Last Chance items are not eligible for returns or exchanges.
